August 3rd 2019
Our wedding will take place at Aspa Herrgård, a beautiful manor house on the shore of Lake Vättern in central Sweden. The wedding ceremony itself will take place on a secluded beach by the lake next to Anna’s family’s land, which is a 10 minute drive from Aspa Herrgård.
We have the entire manor house and attached buildings booked from Friday afternoon until Sunday midday. There are enough rooms for everyone to stay and we would love for as many people as possible to spend the weekend with us.
A rough plan of the weekend looks like this:

Food
There will be a soup lunch available at Aspa Herrgård on Saturday before the ceremony. This will cost 125 SEK, if you would like one please book this with us when you RSVP.
For those staying at Aspa Herrgård, there are fully equipped kitchens in every building and breakfast essentials will be provided. See the accommodation section for more details.
Dress Code
Semi formal or cocktail attire.
If the weather is kind to us we plan to spend much of the day outside in the garden. The ceremony will involve a very short walk through the forest onto the beach so please bear this is mind when choosing footwear.
Aspa Herrgård was built in the 1700’s and was originally a country manor house. From 1987 it became a luxury hotel and restaurant. Today it is a self-catering holiday venue. It consists of five separate buildings and a large English garden, all a stone’s throw away from Lake Vättern.
We have booked the entire manor house and attached buildings from Friday afternoon until Sunday midday, and there are more than enough beds for everyone.
If you choose to stay the cost is 700 SEK per adult for two nights accommodation.
All of the rooms are recently refurbished. Most are double rooms, there are also some larger family rooms and a few rooms with bunk beds that sleep up to four people. We can’t guarantee you any particular room, but we will carefully decide room allocations that suit everyone’s needs once we know exactly who is attending. Please leave us a comment when you RSVP if you have any specific needs.
The accommodation is entirely self-catering (there is no front desk, restaurant or room service!). Each of the buildings have their own modern and fully equipped kitchen. You will be sharing the kitchen and, in most cases, a bathroom with a few other wedding guests.
- Friday
- Check in from 15:00
- Arrange your own dinner
- There are fully equipped kitchens in each building & BBQs available for use at Aspa Herrgård. Alternatively there are plenty of restaurants and a supermarket in the town of Askersund about 20 minutes drive away
- Saturday
- Breakfast essentials (e.g bread, butter, tea, coffee, milk, cereal etc) will be provided in the shared kitchens
- Soup lunch available at Aspa Herrgård for 125 SEK, or arrange your own lunch before wedding ceremony

- Breakfast essentials (e.g bread, butter, tea, coffee, milk, cereal etc) will be provided in the shared kitchens

There is the possibility to rent one of the buildings at Aspa Herrgård for a few days after the wedding. Let us know if you might be interested in staying for longer when you RSVP and we can give you more information. Anna & Mike are also planning on staying in the area.
The accommodation has many luxurious amenities including:

Some suggestions for things to see and do in the area…
Lake Vättern
In summer it’s fantastic to relax by the lake and it’s one of our favourite places to be. There are many lovely bathing areas nearby to Aspa Herrgård. The nearest is just minutes from the manor house, a child-friendly beach with jumping tower and sandy beach. (Speak to Anna & Mike for tips on the best bathing spots!)
Askersund
“Askersund is a small idyllic lakeside town with a quaint, intimate atmosphere. Its charming wooden buildings in the town centre with inviting cafes, shops and walks are just a stone’s throw from the spectacular but little known cluster of some 250 islands that make up the archipelago of northern Lake Vättern”
See the Visit Askersund brochure here for more information (this is the 2018 brochure, 2019 will be available in March!)
Tiveden National Park
“Enjoy a sense of wilderness in a hilly and wild forest landscape with dramatic rift valleys, beautiful woodland lakes, giant boulders by Stenkälla, views from the Trollkyrkobergen mountains and the swimming area at Vitsand.”
See the Tiveden National Park website here for more information.
Fagertärn
“Fagertärn nature reserve is famous for the red water lilies. It is the place of origin of all the 20 or so red water lilies of the world. It is Sweden’s largest wild flower and largest among Europe’s water lilies. It blooms in July and August.”
See the brochure here for more information.
By Car
Aspa Herrgård is about 3 hours drive from Stockholm via the E20 or E18.
Address:
Aspa Herrgård
69693 Aspa Bruk
Sweden
There is ample free parking available at the venue.
If you know you will be arriving by car and you may have spare spaces to help others out please let us know when you RSVP!
By Air
Stockholm Arlanda is the largest nearby airport with flights to a wide variety of UK airports via airlines such as BA, SAS, Norwegian, and EasyJet.
Arlanda has excellent public transport links with Stockholm and is approximately 3 hours drive to Aspa Herrgård. There are many car hire options available at Arlanda Airport.
Skavsta and Västerås airports are smaller airports that are served by RyanAir flights to the UK (mostly Stansted). They are approximately 2 hours drive to Aspa Herrgård. If you are thinking of visiting Stockholm from these airports there are coach services timed to meet flights which take about 1 hour.
If you are planning on arriving at these smaller airports we recommend to book your hire car in advance, since the hire cars here are pre-booked only.
By Public Transport
Realistically it’s best to arrive by car if possible as Aspa Herrgård is not served by public transport.
The nearest train station is Hallsberg, with trains to and from Stockholm. However Aspa Herrgård is about 40 minutes away and there are no taxis or buses.
Let us know when you RSVP if you need help organising transport to or from the venue. It’s quite likely other guests are heading the same way as you and we can try and help organise for someone to give you a ride.
- Cash (or Swish)
- You’ll need it for the bar on Saturday evening. Cards are not accepted and there are no cash machines nearby

- Umbrella (just in case!)
- Mosquito repellent
- Beach towels
- If you are staying at Aspa Herrgård bath towels are included but please do not take these out of your room!

- Walking boots
